We couldn’t be happier about Earth Day this year since it’s the first time Farmstand has been around to celebrate. Farmers’ market season is ramping up (in the Northern Hemisphere) so get out there, buy fresh local food, and share photos of what you get.
We’ve amassed a pretty awesome database of farmers’ markets and here are some interesting stats we’ve found.
It’s pretty clear that the fun starts in May (fresh strawberries anyone?) and continues through October with about 70% of markets open during peak season. But, fear not. Nearly 25% of the markets in Farmstand are open year-round!
If you visit farmers’ markets regularly you’re probably not surprised by these numbers. Almost 50% of the markets are open on Saturday with a scattering on other days. It’s definitely easiest for farmers to connect with customers on the weekend. Make sure you grab Farmstand to find your nearest market and when it’s open.
